This is Myrtle. Myrtle is a WONDROUSLY preserved one-owner 1985 240 sedan with only 50k miles.
Myrtle’s original owners purchased the car new on 6/27/1985 for $15,551 from Kansas City Volvo, trading in their 1974 Mercury Monterey, because, as their son said, “my folks read that it was the safest car on the road, and the Mercury was a terrible car that had to go.”
Myrtle legitimately drives like a new car… hands down, this is the best driving 240 we’ve ever had. Entirely unmolested, the car is not only in beautiful shape, but includes every record accrued during its ownership history, and even has the original flootmats inside it!
We restored Myrtle for ourselves, and in the process made EVERY EFFORT to maintain Myrtle’s originality because everything about her is just perfect. That said, Myrtle’s paint did not weather the test of time too well, so the vehicle has undergone a complete top-to-bottom respray, and is a testament to our quality work — her paint is literally flawless. Myrtle has also undergone a complete mechanical inspection and overhaul, with every fluid changed and every wear part swapped-out.
In August of 2019, our efforts paid off and our opinion of this car being just perfect were qualified when Myrtle was awarded ‘Best in Class’ at the annual Milwaukee Concourse D’Elegance, with literally hundreds of other vehicles in its class!
Myrtle has been sold and is going to an absolute Volvo fanatic on Long Island in NY. We’re certain our friends on the East Coast will be seeing this car all around town, at the shows and definitely at the MidAtlantic Volvo Club meets! We’re going to miss this car, she’s one of the great ones.
